Robert J. Friedland

Robert J. Friedland is a Founding Partner of Essential Human Capital, a New York City based integrated executive search and coaching firm. His executive search clients are comprised of financial institutions including hedge funds, private equity portfolio companies, financial technology firms and B2Bs.  Robert has more than 30 years of experience as a senior-level recruiter, including hundreds of searches for sales, finance, marketing, investments, capital markets and operations professionals. Understanding the unique value of adding coaching to recruitment, retention and development,  Robert became a Certified Professional Coach specialized in leadership, communication and team building. He is an expert in coaching executives in transition, helping them align their core values and competencies with their assessment of new career opportunities. Coaching honors Robert's long-standing commitment to being of service to people in both his personal and professional lives.  He spent the first seven years of his career running a group home for blind adults in Manhattan.  He subsequently worked in operations within a family business before beginning his career in executive search. Robert earned a B.A. in Political Science from the State University at Albany. He became a Certified Professional Coach and ELI-Master Practitioner (ELI is an attitudinal assessment tool) through IPEC, the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching.


Richard M. Cohen

Steven D. NissRichard M. Cohen joined Essential Human Capital in 2016 and specializes in search assignments for CEOs, CFOs, and board positions. His expertise regarding the attributes required for success in the C-suite is derived from his deep experience in several leadership roles within public and private companies. Rich was the President of two public companies, General Media, Inc. and National Auto Credit. His also served as the President and CFO of CorMedix ( NYSE:CRMD ) from 2011-2013, and he was the Chairman of Chord Advisors (2012-2015), a firm that provides outsourced CFO services. He was also a founding shareholder of two private companies (Novation Capital and Regional Help that were successfully sold to private equity firms. Mr. Cohen has also served on a number of Boards of Directors (Rodman and Renshaw, National Auto Credit, Helix BioMedix and Dune Energy) and is considered an expert in chairing the Audit Committee of publicly traded companies.

Rich received a BS cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Stanford University. He began his career with Arthur Andersen and earned a CPA accreditation in New York State.
